Medaka Floating Breeding Fry Isolation Basket

After months of researching suitable materials, I have finally successfully adapted a plastic reusable coffee filter basket in order to ensure that it floats just above the surface of the water.

Thereby ensuring that my medaka fry can be safely kept out of the reach of the adult fish whilst remaining in the same tank / container / tub. This will hopefully significantly reduce the number of containers I will be using over the coming breeding season.

The materials have been carefully chosen to ensure that they are fish safe. The foam is composed of polyethylene which will not leach chemicals into the water. The glue used is Gorilla cyanoacrylate superglue which is also fish safe. 

I have spent a considerable amount of time researching and trialling various foam products and have finally settled on this item because my fish are precious to me and I don’t want to accidentally poison them.

As a disclaimer, I am, unfortunately, unable to guarantee that your adult medaka won’t jump into these baskets and devour the fry. It’s never happened to me, so it may well be an urban legend, but if you think it’s a possibility then I would totally isolate the fry just in case.

I only sell products that I find useful and work for me, and my goal is to source and provide these items to other people in the community. 

These baskets are priced to reflect both the additional costs of the foam and the glue, and the time it takes me to actually individually stick each one.
